The tender process is for services for athletes, officials, sponsors, journalists, spectators, staff and volunteers.
Said a spokesman for organisers ATHOC: "Through these tenders the largest ever food programme that has ever been conducted in Greece will be implemented, one which covers the large sports centres and individual sporting venues, as well as the non-sporting venues
in Athens and the country's four other Olympic cities.
"The fact the decision of the Athens 2004 administration is to choose contractors with the
ability to offer 'vertical' food services, in other words, each one of them will be able to offer 'clients' all categories of food, from fast food to full meals and services, and each contractor will cover one venue or complex, and given that the number of 'clients' per Olympic venue differ considerably, means that the bidding tenders are addressed to both large and
small companies."
