Becker keeps his freedom

Tennis legend Boris Becker has escaped a jail sentence after admitting tax evasion.

The German star had faced a potential three-and-a-half year jail sentence over his confession of tax fraud but instead was given a two year probationary period by a Munich court.
Becker has also paid EUR3million ($2.9m) in back taxes and interest to rectify his previous failings.
Said Becker: "This was my most important victory. I am happy and relieved that this chapter is finally over. I am a free man, that is the most important thing."
However, Mattias Musiol, the prosecuting lawyer in the case, stated that the court had been too lenient with Becker.
"After seven years of denial, he admitted his crime at the start of the trial and paid the back taxes. This was a last-minute confession. It is not enough."
The taxation fraud revolved around the fact that Becker had maintained a home in Munich while claiming to live within the tax-free borders of Monaco.
The ruling marks the end of a 10-year investigation into Becker's tax record.
