CART's $30m future cash pot

After much speculation, CART has not only confirmed its 2003 season, but also committed a $30m cash pot to support and assist the sport as it reaches a crucial point in its history.

Following recent revelations that CART CEO Chris Pook and Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone had been holding mystery talks, some industry whispers suggested CART may not even be around to stage a 2003 season.

But CART hopes to leave its doubters behind after CART board members approved a significant investment in its future.
