Wembley deal imminent

The future of England's national stadium in Wembley will be resolved within days as a long-awaited multi-million pound deal nears completion

German bank WestLB is reportedly in the closing stages of a loan agreement with the Football Association to provide £426million ($663m/EUR674m) towards rebuilding Wembley Stadium which has been out of action since October 2000.

A spokesman at the Department for Culture, Media & Sport said: "We expect there to be an announcement in the next few days."

The total bill for Wembley Stadium is £750m ($1.1bn/EUR1.1bn). The remainder of the money will come from Sport England and the UK government.
