IAAF confirms Golden hosts

The IAAF has confirmed the six cities to host the 2003 Golden League athletics series.

The IAAF has made no secret of its desire to award the right to host one of its showcase events only to those venues which can generate a sufficient commercial return.

But London - tipped by many to be a new venue on the calendar - has failed in its bid to host one of the meetings.

As expected, the series has been reduced from seven to six meetings, with Berlin, Brussels, Oslo, Paris, Rome and Zurich being chosen.

However, London and Stockholm could still find themselves on the agenda, should Oslo fail to finance the renovation of its Bislett Stadium venue

Monaco, meanwhile, will host the Grand Prix Final - which will be renamed the World Athletics Final.
