"One of the key lessons for Athens - or indeed any other major sporting event going forward - is to ensure that as an organising committee you use your legal expertise to ensure that you are as insulated from risk as you can be," said Tony Sigh, a consultant in the sports unit of Addleshaw Booth and Co.
"Structure the deals and contracts right in the first place and you will also avoid costly litigation (or bad debt) down the line."
