Two nomitated for NZRFU Board

The Wellington Rugby Football Union in New Zealand has nomimated Jock Hobbs as a Central Zone representative for the NZRFU Board and Paul Quinn as its Maori representative.

The NZRFU is being replaced following the International Rugby Board's (IRB) decision earlier this year to drop New Zealand as co-hosts with Australia of the 2003 World Cup.

Hobbs said he would seek election to the NZRFU Board because of his deisre to assist the game in moving forward. "I am pleased to be nominated by the Wellington Rugby Union and I appreciate their backing.

"New Zealand rugby is presently faced with a unique situation and I believe I can make a positive contribution and would like to do so.

"What's important at the moment, irrespective of my nomination, is that a quality board is appointed with a good mix of experience and skills in order to move forward."
