The deal with MLB Advanced Media, which runs until the end of 2004, will see the Japanese firm become the exclusive license holder of a number of MLB-related rights in Japan.
"This agreement is good for baseball as it continues to expand its reach around the globe," said Bob Bowman, CEO of MLBAM.
"We are pleased to partner with this outstanding Japanese company and we believe this agreement will generate additional interest in the game with Japanese speaking fans. We expect to follow this agreement with similar transactions in Korea and in Spanish speaking countries."
Cyber Agent will utilise this license through advertising sales, subscription service, e-commerce and sub-licensing.
Cyber Agent hopes to have its site and links to as many as eight individual team sections in Japanese available by October 1.
Under the terms of the transaction, Cyber Agent will offer a Japanese language web-site covering Major League Baseball; live Japanese-language streaming game videos for the 2004 MLB season; complete live Japanese-language audio and editorial coverage of all games; and a host of other news services both through the internet and other wireless devices.
