Phil Lines, until now Granada Sport's head of development, has been appointed to the newly-created role and will take up his duties on August 26.
Richard Scudamore, the Premier League’s chief executive, announced: "Phil Lines has built a considerable reputation in both his own and our industry so we are very pleased to have attracted him to the role. Broadcasting is an integral part of our business and the complexities of our agreements need a person of this calibre to take us forward."
