According to local media reports, lengthy negotiations between the two parties are coming to a head with a contract to be signed off in the next few weeks.
It is believed that adidas is investing in the region of EUR12.5 million to EUR15m for a 49 percent stake in a new company to be named Benfica Comercial. The arm will manage much of the Benfica's commercial ventures with profits from the product sales to be split between the club and the newly created company.
Benfica has enjoyed successful uptake of new kit launches in recent years which has persuaded it to approach adidas in regard to a joint partnership. The sports goods brand has a similar deal in place with German club Bayern Munich in which it holds a 10 percent stake.
Portuguese soccer club Benfica are reportedly on the verge of signing a new marketing contract with sports goods brand adidas.
