The firm's subscribers can now utilise Beckham's voice as part of their phone message service with a recording of the footballer saying "This is the voicemail service for X. Please leave a message after the tone" available to all users of the Vodafone network.
The unique initiative is part of a larger two-year £3 million marketing tie-up Beckham has signed with Vodafone which is also the principal sponsor of the England captain's club Manchester United through a four-year multi-million pound deal.
Despite the link with Beckham's club, Vodafone was unable to utilise the player's image rights without signing a separate sponsorship contract.
Says Peter Harris, Vodafone's director of sponsorship and media: "David Beckham has the rare ability to appeal to such a wide range of people that he is the ideal person to promote our services globally.
"He is the most recognised sports person in Asia. You only had to see coverage of the World Cup to realise how highly regarded he is."
David Beckham has signed a unique deal with Vodafone which provides the mobile phone company with the rights to the renowned footballer's voice.
