Rugby designer goes into receivership

High debt levels have forced James Gilbert Group, a leading designer and manufacturer of branded rugby apparel, into administrative recievership.

The group has an annual turnover of £7million ($11m), employs 47 people from its rugby head office in England and has operations in Australia, New Zealand and France.

Stuart Maddison, director at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, the company handling the receivership, said: "The name Gilbert is as synonymous with rugby as Twickenham. It enjoys an unparalleled reputation in the sport and we are confident that with the support of the management team, customers and suppliers, we will succeed in finding a buyer for the group.
