The CTV-owned RC was outbid for the French-language TV rights to the NHL by cable rival Reseau des Sports (RDS), a subsidiary arm of The Sports Network (TSN), which signed a five-year deal to air all 92 regular season and a minimum of 40 play-off games from the league.
However, RC has now signed a three-year sublicensing agreement with RDS to broadcast its 'Hockey Night in Canada' telecasts on Saturday nights and during the season-ending Stanley Cup play-offs. The coverage, which will be simultaneously broadcast on RDS, will total between 20 and 25 regular season ties as well as the play-off games involving the Montreal Canadiens team.

Canada's French-language public broadcaster Radio-Canada (RC) has re-acquired coverage of the National Hockey League (NHL) despite losing the rights to a rival bidder earlier this summer.
