Microsoft sign online deal

Sportinglife.com's Commonwealth Games micro-site has teamed up with event sponsor Microsoft.

Microsoft will be the sole sponsor of the Sportinglife.com Commonwealth Games micro-site in order to push its association with the XVII Games to the biggest domestic audience possible.

The Games were officially opened last night with a lavish opening ceremony.

The sponsorship deal, which is the first time the two companies have worked together, will last for the duration of the Games and will include headline strip banners, pop-up banners and branded emails to Sportinglife.com users.

UK sporting officials are hoping the Manchester Games prove a big success and pave the way for them to mount a serious bid for a future Olympic Games.
