F1 ratings 'to drop'

Tagged in

A television expert has predicted that ratings for Formula One racing will drop by 20 percent in the UK for the rest of the season because Michael Schumacher has won the 2002 series.

His title victory at the French Grand Prix last weekend was watched by 3.5 million British viewers compared to 4.4m who watched golf's The Open at Muirfield.

Tim Crow, a director at sponsorship consultancy firm Karen Earl Limited, warns that Schumacher's premature victory will persuade even less people to watch the remaining six races this season.
