World Cup boost for Chinese portals

One of China's three overseas-listed portals has recorded improved results for the second quarter on the back of World Cup promotions.

Sohu.com said at $6.13m (EUR6.1m) revenues were up 35 percent compared with the first quarter and more than double revenues for the equivalent period last year.

The growth in turnover was driven by increased advertising and a massive increase of China's 176m mobile phone users accessing short messaging services during the World Cup.
