CART driving global TV exposure

CART has increased its international television distribution after the US motor racing series' marketing partner Octagon CSI finalised rights deals in five new regions.

Octagon CSI, which partnered with CART earlier this year, has signed a non-exclusive live package agreement with Fox Sports International which will see the latter distribute the CART programming to local broadcasters and through Fox's own networks in Latin America (excluding Brazil), the Middle East, Israel, Hungary and Czech Republic.
The new deals further expand the international profile of CART's FedEx Championship Series beginning with the Grand Prix of Chicago at the Chicago Motor Speedway this weekend (29 June). The contracts cover the remainder of the 2002 CART season.
The increased international exposure of the CART franchise is a major goal of the company's strategic upheaval as it bids to regain some of the ground lost to rival US motor racing series NASCAR in recent years.
