ESCA elects new chief

The European Sponsorship Consultants Association (ESCA) has a new chairman in the form of Nigel Currie.

Currie, who has worked in the sponsorship industry for 20 years and has been on the ESCA board since 1996, will succeed Barrie Gill (pictured) who will step down after five years in the post.
Having worked at sponsorship agency Craigie Taylor - which became part of the GEM Group earlier this year - since 1991, Currie's wealth of expertise in handling big-name clients such as Vodafone, Carlsberg-Tetley and Toyota will stand him in good stead as he takes up the key post at ESCA.
Along with Currie's appointment, several other changes were made to the ESCA board with five new members stepping up to the body - Richard Moore from Capitalize; Ardi Kolah from Maverick UK; Nick Johnson from Osborne Clarke; Sandra Greer from S:Comm and Henri van der Aat from Trefpunt (Holland).
Despite stepping down from the post of chairman, Barrie Gill was unanimously elected to the new post of president.
