The baseball franchise has developed a Spanish-language magazine programme, 'Sabor a Beisbol', which will be distributed to broadcasters both domestically in the US and throughout Latin America.
MLB players from Latin America and the Caribbean accounted for 12 percent of those participating in the league at the start of the 2002 season making it 'a natural choice to develop a MLB programme for Spanish-speaking audiences that focuses exclusively on Latin players' stated Paul Archey, senior VP of international business operations at MLB.
The weekly show, which debuted at the start of the month, features a different Latin player acting as co-host and features regular programming and statistics on the various teams and players from the Latin sector.
The show is broadcast on Fox Sports World Espanol in the US with another 22 rights holders throughout Latin America also carrying the content.
Major League Baseball (MLB) International has unveiled a major new broadcast initiative aimed at targeting the large Hispanic audience in both the US and Latin America.
