Report set for Arsenal test case

A key stage in a landmark legal case over trademark infringement in top-level sport is reached later this week.

English Premier League soccer club Arsenal has taken its case against street trader Matthew Reed to the European Court in a bid to overturn a London High Court decision to rule in favour of Reed.

Arsenal has already been prompted to change its club crest as part of the dispute, which revolves around the sale of unofficial merchandise and the ownership of trademarks.

And on Thursday this week the Advocate General at the European Court will issue his report into the case - expected to be a key guide to the final outcome, which is not expected for several months.
