A former director of the club, Gilbert Kinch, has unveiled plans to dethrone six of Leicester's non-executive directors and install himself and two colleagues in their stead.
Kinch, who stepped down from the Foxes' board in 1999, stated his intent to place himself, Freddie Fletcher - the former executive chairman of Newcastle United - and Denis Cassidy, also a former Newcastle non-executive, to the Leicester board.
Kinch has assembled a 10.1 percent stake in Leicester, through his company Leicestershire Sporting, with which he is pushing for an extraordinary meeting to allow the club's shareholders to vote on his proposals.
While Kinch's strategy is not clear, the problems surrounding Leicester have increased in recent months following the club's relegation from the Premier League. With the club moving to an expensive new stadium at the start of the new season, the loss of the lucrative television and commercial revenues from the top flight is set to hit the club hard.
English soccer club Leicester City, which has just been relegated from the country's top flight league, has become the subject of a bitter internal dispute.
