League threatens Bradford

Tagged in

English First Division soccer club Bradford City faces a grilling from Football League chiefs after administrators for the cash-strapped outfit yesterday made 19 players redundant.

According to a report in London's Daily Mail newspaper, the league - backed by the players' union the PFA - is said to be fuming after administrators terminated their contracts with no compensation offered. It has also told Bradford the club may lose its place in the league.

However, administrator Mike Moore said: "We have not contravened Football League regulations. We are confident the league's board will exercise its discretion in good faith, acting reasonably and taking into account the interests of football as a whole."
