NBA returning to Charlotte?

David Stern, commissioner of the NBA, has confirmed talks are under way about a new expansion franchise in Charlotte – just days after the Charlotte Hornets won owners approval to move to New Orleans.

Former Boston Celtics stars ML Carr and Larry Bird are understood to have established a potential ownership group for a new franchise and are in negotiations about putting a team in Charlotte.

Said Stern: "We did get a letter that they would very much like to have a team.

"ML said that he was going to be in Charlotte this summer working very hard on that."

Any deals hang on the progress of an uptown arena in Charlotte.
