Extra time for ITV Digital

UK pay-TV platform ITV Digital has been given seven days to renegotiate its rights contract with the English Football League by the High Court.

The financially stricken platform was placed into administration at the end of March with accountants Deloitte and Touche taking over the day-to-day running of the company.

In its first report to the High Court concerning the future of ITV Digital, Deloitte and Touche told the hearing today (April 15) that there was a real prospect of restructuring the business.

The accountants also stated that there were sufficients funds to continue running the business for a further week and that discussions with the Football League over a $258.2million (EUR293.21m) debt on their TV rights contract were now at a crucial stage.

The Football League has threatened ITV Digital with legal action should the full payment on the rights contract not be met.
