Kmart pulls out of sponsorships

Bankrupt discount retailer Kmart is pulling out of it signage sponsorship deal, the Detroit Tigers' Comerica Park.

Kmart, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January, said the sponsorships at Comerica Park, as well as The Palace at Auburn Hills and Joe Louis Arena, were "a drain on cash flow" and "not a source of potential value".

The court has already let Kmart drop its $19.2million (EUR21.8m) sponsorship of the Haas-Carter NASCAR Winston Cup cars and sponsorship of the 2002 And 2003 Daytona 500s at $1.4m (EUR1.6m) each.
