UK sports sponsorship peaks

Spending on sports sponsorship has proved more resilient to the advertising slump, according to research carried out by UK-based consultants Ipsos.

The amount spent on sponsoring sports in the UK bucked the trend and rose five percent to £422million ($600m/EUR682m) in 2001 from £401m ($570m/EUR649m) a year previously, with the bulk of this money going to football and motor sports.
