EHA faces closure

The English Hockey Association (EHA) meets today to discuss its beleaguered financial position, with a recommendation likely to be that the organisation is shut down.

Last week the EHA admitted that it is more than £750,000($1.1m/EUR1.2m) in the red and has no tangible assets.

The main cause for concern is how the EHA managed to get so badly into debt without any warnings. "Before I left for the World Cup, I was told the deficit was £400,000 ($568,000/EUR646,000) and, by the time I came back, it was £700,000 ($994,000/EUR1.1bn). I want answers," said Mike Corby, the EHA president.
