Blatter to be cleaned out?

Tagged in &

The man expected to be one of the main rivals to Sepp Blatter in his bid to retain presidency of soccer’s governing body FIFA, is believed to have discussed with IOC chief Jacques Rogge the possibility of supporting a ‘clean’ candidate.

Rogge, who has been successful in enhancing the IOC’s reputation following the controversy surrounding the Salt Lake City bribery allegations, is, according to UK media reports, believed to have offered his ‘behind-the-scenes’ support to any ‘clean’ candidate who challenges Blatter.

The UK’s Observer newspaper says secret talks have taken place between Issa Hayatou – the president African football, and one of two possible challengers to Blatter – and Rogge.
