West LB makes Wentworth bid

German bank West LB is reportedly preparing to buy UK championship golf course Wentworth in a £100million ($143/EUR163.5m) deal.

According to English broadsheet The Observer, West LB is likely to follow up the acquisition with further multi-million pound purchases in a plan to create a circuit of championship golf venues in Europe.

The newspaper stated that Monaco-based entrepreneur David Warren is leading the venture, and plans to make bids for a number of top courses, including Gleneagles in Scotland and Portugal's San Lorenzo.
