Lewis wins court fight with promoter

UK heavyweight boxer Lennox Lewis has been awarded $8 million after winning a court case against his former promoter Panos Eliades.

The New York court ruled in favour of Lewis after the boxer had counter-sued original legal action filed by Eliades for breach of contract. The jury reached its conclusion after two days of deliberation.
Lewis had parted ways with Eliades in February 2001 having been involved with the promoter since the late 1980s. The court ruling comes as Lewis is heavily involved in negotiations over his much-publicised fight with Mike Tyson.
