Two World Cups in one

This summer's World Cup is equivalent to running two completely separate tournaments, according to Paul Myer, director of communications at Avaya, the technological partner for the competition.

"We talk about the World Cup but I can tell you from a technical and marketing perspective that we are doing two World Cups - this is a mammoth undertaking that because of language and cultural differences in Japan and South Korea and technical issues, has turned into a very complex engagement," said Myer.
