Ex-F1 exec launches new agency

The former commercial director of the Benetton Formula One team has launched a new sports marketing agency.

Brian Sims, who in 1994 established the Motorsport Industry Association, will operate Sims Sport from offices in Wiltshire, UK, and cover a range of sports.

Said Sims: "The marketing objectives of the corporate sector are changing dramatically. Sport can still play a major role in helping companies achieve these objectives, but there has to be a better understanding on all sides of how this can be achieved. I want to work with both business and sport to develop mutually beneficial sports marketing strategies.”

Sims Sport will act as the marketing agency for the FIA Sports Car Championship, and has also been contracted by Zurich Premier rugby team Bristol Shoguns to assist in the development of its corporate sponsorship strategy.
