Tough sell for Super Bowl ads

Tagged in

Media Buyers estimate that 10 to 15 of the 60 Super Bowl ad slots are still up for grabs with only 10 days to go before the big game.

By the equivelent time last year, the Super Bowl was sold out, but according to press agency sources, many 30-second slots are still being negotiated.
Fox claims it is getting $2million (EUR2.28m) per 30-second spot but media buyers agree that long-time Super Bowl advertisers could end up paying about $1.7m (EUR1.94m) per unit.
Budweiser, Pepsi Cola, Levi's, Visa, New Line Cinema, Monster.com, HotJobs.com, Cadillac, H&R Block, Universal's "The Scorpion King", Warner Bros, Walt Disney Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, MGM, AT&T Wireless, Quizno's and Pizza Hut are all expected to show.
But EDS, one of the most popular ads from last year's Super Bowl coverage, decided along with Volkswagen, to put their commercials on during the Salt Lake Olympics instead.
