Vans appoints adidas exec

Lifestyle sports brand Vans, Inc has hired former adidas executive Robert Nagel to the position of senior vice president of sales and apparel.

In his new position, Nagel will be responsible for Vans' worldwide sales and apparel business.
Nagel previously served as director of sales and marketing for adidas America, Inc, and, before that, worked at Nike where he was responsible for managing approximately $500million (EUR570m) in footwear and apparel sales.
"Vans is one of the few companies out there that has the potential to become a major player in the industry, said Nagel. "I look forward to further building on the momentum that has already been created and maximising the many opportunities that lie ahead.''
Vans reaches its 10 to 24 year-old target consumers through the sponsorship of skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing and wakeboarding, and through events such as the Vans Triple Crown Series, the Vans Warped Tour and the Vans World Amateur Skateboarding Championships.
