Its motorsports division will now bring together all the company’s motorsports interests in terms of venues, events and world series.
The united Octagon Motorsports Group will incorporate World Superbike Championships, World Endurance Championships, the British Grand Prix, the circuits – Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Cadwell Park, Snetterton, the Daytona karting venues – plus a majority shareholding in British Motorsport Promoters (owners of British Touring Car, British Superbike, British Formula Three and British GT).
Octagon Worldwide says it has made the move in a bid to maximise the group’s extensive portfolio of venues, events and series. In addition, it says, the united operation will provide existing and potential sponsors and partners with incremental business opportunities.
As part of this new structure Octagon Worldwide has appointed Maurizio Flammini as chairman and Rob Bain as chief executive of the new group.
Said Les Delano, chief executive, Octagon Worldwide: “Motorsports is a core part of our business at Octagon. The new, united structure ensures that we make the most of the outstanding collection of venues, events and world series that we have. Going forward it will also ensure that we can continue to develop our motorsports expertise and provide the best possible product to our partners and consumers alike.”
