The International Association of Athletic Federations had to re-open its bidding process following a fiasco in London over the venue eventually led to the city forfeiting the right to stage the event.
Now, delegates from Belgium (Brussels), Hungary (Budapest), Finland (Helsinki), Germany (Berlin, Munich and Stuttgart), Italy (Rome) and Russia (Moscow) will visit the IAAF Headquarters in Monaco on January 11 for a briefing about the bid process and requirements.
Visits to the cities will take place in March, before the IAAF Council makes its final choice at the next meeting in Nairobi on April 14.
Final bids are to be made at the end of February.
