NTL 'sponsoring the wrong teams'

NTL, the UK's largest cable operator, is wasting its money sponsoring a string of football clubs, according to Chris Reed, marketing director at Rivals.net.

“In what could only be considered a land grab exercise they [NTL] sponsor Newcastle United, Glasgow Rangers, Glasgow Celtic and Aston Villa, and are media partners for others such as Middlesbrough and Leicester,” he said.

"Guess where NTL cable does NOT hold the cable franchise? Newcastle and Birmingham. So even if the fans of half these clubs wanted to buy NTL, they couldn't."
