Italy's state-owned broadcaster RAI has finally bought the television rights to next year's World Cup from German media giant Kirch.
RAI is to pay $138m (EUR155m) for the rights in a deal which includes the option to buy the exclusive rights to the 2006 World Cup.
The broadcasting rights to the FIFA World Cup have now been awarded to 21 countries in Europe as well as most of Asia, including the host nations South Korea and Japan, Central and South America and Africa.
