Leeds United signs WSS merchandising deal

Manchester-based sports marketing agency World Sports Solutions Ltd (WSS) has signed a global merchandising and brand licensing agreement with Premier league high-flyers Leeds United.

The five-year partnership will focus on the globalisation of the Leeds United brand, through the production of a commercial programme, which will be developed, managed and implemented by WSS, using its distribution and service network across all territories.

"Never in the business of football has it been more important to be at the forefront of exporting your product and your brand to new markets," commented Leeds United chairman Peter Ridsdale. "World Sports Solutions provides Leeds United with an experienced and dedicated resource and a global distribution network, which can interface with our own team at Leeds United to manage our brand in a structured and rewarding manner."

WSS Chief Operating Officer Ian Ayre added: "Being able to introduce internationally recognised brands like Leeds United to our base of corporate clients and distributors, is a major step forward. The Leeds United brand has some unique qualities which we would hope to develop in new markets."

In addition to working with European football, WSS works with golf, rugby and horseracing, and the Williams F1 team.
