The PFA met league officials from the Premier League and Football League this morning following weeks of negotiations. The PFA was disputing its share of the latest TV deal struck by the Premier League and the Football League.
News first broke when the PFA issued a statement on its website stating a deal had been struck, but were then forced to deny a settlement had been agreed, as league officials insisted talks were continuing.
Terms of the deal have not yet been revealed, but it is widely believed PFA chief Gordon Taylor accepted a £50m package over three years and a commitment for future payments.
Public pressure had been growing to end the dispute after league officials put a greatly improved offer on the table and players were beginning to fear they were set to lose public support for the action they had voted overwhelmingly to take if the improved offer was not accepted.
Prior to an official statement, Gordon Taylor said: "Both sides will be happy with the TV cash deal.
"It is nearly done. ItB4s now just a matter of dotting the IB4s and crossing the TB4s."
A press conference originally scheduled for noon is set to take place later this afternoon to confirm details of the settlement deal.
