British politicians have slammed the government over its stop-start plans for a national athletics stadium but said no side came out with any credit.

(Reuters) The government decided in October to shelve plans for a new stadium in Picketts Lock, north London, jeopardising Britain's chances of hosting the 2005 athletics world championships.
