(Reuters) Blatter said Egypt would be a candidate to stage the World Cup in nine years' time and Nigeria might also launch a bid.
"I know that Egypt will be candidate for the next World Cup," Blatter said in the interview with the BBC. "They are able to do it - they already have five adequate stadia, though they would need to build some more."
"Nigeria would also be a possibility but it is a question of organisation.
"Africa is already looking at the possibility of co-hosting between two countries. It is eager to share between two countries because the legacy of the World Cup would have a double effect - not only on one country but on two."
The 2002 World Cup is being co-hosted by South Korea and Japan but there are worries about transportation between the two countries, the movement of tens of thousands of fans and security.
Blatter has hinted strongly he thinks it is Africa's turn to host the tournament for the first time in 2010. Germany narrowly edged out South Africa to win the right to stage the 2006 World Cup.
