Koreans to learn English phrases

Dog may still be on the menu, but the organisers of the 2002 World Cup have decided to ‘westernise’ their staff by handing out English-language phrasebooks in Seoul’s major shopping districts.

The 26-page booklet, which has been handed out to shop owners in the South Korean capital, is titled ‘May I Help You?’ and contains 380 English phrases.
English is not widely spoken in Korea despite the presence of US troops in the region for half a century.
