VOELLER NEW GERMAN 2006 AMBASSADOR

Former Germany striker Rudi Voeller has been appointed ambassador of the German bid to host soccer's 2006 World Cup.

Voeller, who appeared 90 times for Germany, became the fourth former German international chosen by the German Football Federation to assist in the job after Jurgen Klinsmann, Guenter Netzer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Franz Beckenbauer heads the German bid.
The executive committee of world governing body FIFA will decide next July who will stage the event. Also in the race are Brazil, England, Morocco and South Africa.
