GO2NET TARGET COLLEGE STADIA

Searching for new customers and talented employees beyond major U.S. Internet centres, Web portal Go2Net Inc. has launched a marketing campaign at major college football stadiums.

Promotional banners and video scoreboard ads will hawk the company to Web-savvy fans at 13 major college venues plus Seattle's pro football stadium and Portland, Oregon's basketball arena.
The campaign pushes Go2Net's branding efforts into the southern and midwestern United States and builds on its ties to billionaire Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen, who owns more than 30 percent of the company.
Allen also owns the Portland Trailblazers basketball team and Seattle Seahawks football team and his Vulcan Ventures Inc. investment fund owns Action Sports Media, which developed the stadium campaign.
"The population attending college and pro sports has a proven interest in the Internet," said said Go2Net spokesman Mark Peterson.
"We want to build regional awareness of Go2Net as a company and as a brand because we're trying to attract good people to join our company as well as get the Go2Net brand out there."
