The delegation will be headed by Jacques Rogge, the IOC official overseeing the Athens Games. In October, Rogge called on the Greek organisers to speed up work and end internal bickering.
Some 75 percent of the sports facilities for the Games are already in place but the Olympic Village, a media centre and some sports venues have yet to be built.
The official, speaking after a meeting of the Athens 2004 Co-ordinating Committee, said the main outstanding facilities included a sports centre in the Faliron suburb of Athens and an equestrian centre in Markopoulo, some 20 kms north of the capital.
The Faliron centre will host volleyball, taekwondo, judo, handball and boxing. A watersports venue that will host canoeing and kayaking also has to be constructed at a site near the existing Ellinikon airport in Athens.
