The Scot warned his countrymen - who are considering joining up with top clubs from Holland, Portugal, Belgium and Scandanavia to form a new league - that the move would make them outcasts, unless they obtained agreement from either FIFA, or UEFA, the European ruling body.
"Nobody can stop them going on their own and forming a league but they must realise they will be in another realm of football and not part of FIFA or UEFA," Will was quoted as saying in the Daily Record newspaper.
Will added: "I am not saying there will not be an Atlantic League, but it must be done through the proper channels and UEFA must be approached first, and then FIFA."
Celtic and Rangers have both given a cautious welcome to a proposal last week from PSV Eindhoven that top clubs from countries outside of Europe's top five television markets (Italy, Spain, France, England and Germany) band together to create a new league.
