Three capital cities and Hong Kong have presented bids to host the 2006 Asian Games, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has confirmed.
The Kuwait-based OCA said that Hong Kong, New Delhi, Kuala Lumpur and Doha, capital of the oil-rich Gulf Arab state of Qatar, were in the running to host the 15th Asian Games.
"It is for the first time in the history of the OCA that such a large number of countries have shown their eagerness to host the Asian Games...It is gratifying to see that the four bids received represent the four zones of the Asian continent," it said in a statement.
