"We do know about the intention of several countries to present their bids from what we read on the wires but there is nothing official yet," CAF press officer Viken Djizmedjian said.
CAF's executive committee is due to decide on the host for the 2004 Nations' Cup in July after earlier this year disqualifying a joint bid from west African countries Togo and Benin and one from Egypt.
Both bids did not carry the necessary government guarantees, although Egyptian officials said afterwards their failure to provide the right documentation had just been an oversight and would be re-submitted.
In recent months there have been reports of interest by Libya, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Earlier this week plans for a joint bid by Congo and the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo to host the biennial tournament was announced by state radio in Brazzaville after a meeting between the two countries' sports ministers.
The 2002 Nations' Cup finals are being hosted by Mali.
