VIRTUAL WORLD OF SPORTS SECURES LADIES GOLF SPONSORSHIP

Internet company Virtual World of Sports has secured a Au$9.2 million three-year naming rights sponsorship deal with The Australian Ladies Masters golf tournament. The sponsorship ensures that the tournament stays at Royal Pines on Australia?s Gold Coast until at least 2003.

The financial input of Virtual World of Sports follows restrictions on tobacco advertising that saw the withdrawal of Philip Morris as the tournament's previous naming rights sponsor.

The new sponsor, a San Diego-based technology-orientated internet company started up in Queensland three years ago.

This year's Masters achieved record ratings for the Australian broadcaster Network Ten and was televised to 191 million households worldwide.
